State Representative

State Representative and Eagle Scout David T. Vieira was born and raised in Teaticket, MA.  He is married to Rebecca Vieira a print artist and former Art department head for the Falmouth Public Schools.  They reside in East Falmouth with their daughter Emma Marie.  David graduated as the Roll of Honor student from Falmouth High School in 1993, received his BA in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government from The American University in Washington, DC in 1997 and earned his Masters of Public Administration from Suffolk University in Boston in 2004.

David has served as Falmouth Town Moderator since 1998 when he was elected the youngest town moderator in Falmouth's history and reportedly the second youngest in the history of the Commonwealth.  On January 5th, 2011, David was sworn in as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives representing the Third Barnstable District.  

Now in his third term, David serves as the Ranking House Member of the Joint Committee on Public Safety & Homeland Security, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets; and as a member of the House Committee on Rules.  Representative Vieira is a member of the Massachusetts Military Asset & Security Strategy Task Force and is also a Major in the United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol, Massachusetts Legislative Squadron MA-999 .

Prior to his election as state representative David served for 13 years as a deputy sheriff and Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Relations & Citizen Corps for Barnstable County Sheriff James M. Cummings.  He established the Cape Cod CERT – Community Emergency Response Team program and served as founding chairman of the Cape Cod Citizen Corps Council.  He was an appointed member to the National Neighborhood Watch Advisory Council, the US Department of Justice's Terrorism Awareness and Prevention Program working group, and the US Department of Homeland Security’s Deployment working group.  David also served as a disaster assistance employee with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
