Inspiring Change with Human Centered Design ($)
Want to create conditions for change? How do you bring together your team to sold old and new problems at your organization? What if you could train your team, board members and volunteer to approach problems differently or creatively, be more efficient in system design, or around community involvement? This workshop will teach the basics of human centered design or design thinking. You will learn a basic framework and techniques for understanding how to use this planning method in practice at your organization. The technique can be used to troubleshoot problems you regularly face inhibit community engagement, systems efficiency, sustainable funding and continued creativity.

As resources dwindle for commercial local news organization, so does coverage of important issues. You can get a weather forecast for your neighborhood, but consistent news about what’s happening close to home can be hard to find.
How do resource strapped community media organizations fill the void?

In this show and tell community news panel, you will hear from a few different media centers who will share more about the importance of cultivating networks through social media explore aggregating and distributing content through mobile apps and how to optimize story selection, timing and increase your understanding of what interests audiences.
