In this workshop, we’ll work with you to increase the online usability of your program archives, discuss the importance of metadata and key terms to enhance search ability online, and show how you can use YouTube and the Internet Archive to increase the impact of your work and reach new audiences in new ways.

Our focus will expand from the past (how to archive your existing video), to the future (how your center can operate in the world of video distribution devices, channels and smartphone apps).

James Jones from Double ACS will demonstrate how his workflow enables upload to both Youtube and Internet Archive and enables downstream projects like smartphone apps and Roku and Apple TV channels.

John will provide examples of before and after metadata from his Youtube -> Archive work that will highlight time efficient improvements you can make to increase the discoverability of your online videos.

Participants will come away with:

Strategies for how you can improve the discoverability of your station's video.

A specific approach to structuring your metadata and tagging your videos

Checklists to begin your own metadata improvement project
